Kerala is a state in Southern India. Kerala is known as a tropical paradise of waving palms and wide sandy beaches. It is a narrow strip of coastal territory that slopes down the Western Ghats in a cascade of lush green vegetation, and reaches to the Arabian sea. Kerala borders the states of Tamil Nadu to the east and Karnataka to the north. It is also known for its backwaters, mountains, coconuts, spices and art forms like Kathakali and Mohini Attam.

Munnar

Munnar is believed to mean "three rivers" referring to the town's strategic location at the confluence of the Madhurapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundaly rivers. Munnar has some of the biggest tea plantations in the world. Munnar is also famous for the wild orchids locally called Neelakurinchi which blooms once in 12 years. During this time the entire valley turns violet. It is also home to Nilagiri tahr, a rare breed of mountain goat. Munnar has a variety of attractions to feast your eyes like placid lakes, meandering streams, misty mountain peaks, sylvan valleys, rare orchids and wildlife.

Alleppey

Alleppey one of the most important tourist centers in the state of Kerala, with a large number of inland canals has earned the nickname "Venice of the east". The large network of canals is the lifeline of Alleppey. It was a busiest trade center in the past with one of the best known ports, along the Malabar Coast. Even today it retains its charm as the centre for Coir carpet industries and prawn farming. It is also well known for the lovely church filled town of Kottayam, and the town of Aranmula which is famous for its historic Aranmula Snake Boat Race which is an annual event.

Kumarakom

Kumarakom is a cluster of little islands on the Vembanad Lake, and is part of the Kuttanad region. The bird sanctuary here, which is spread across 14 acres is a favourite haunt of migratory birds and an ornithologist's paradise. Egrets, darters, herons, teals, waterfowls, cuckoo, wild duck and migratory birds like the Siberian Stork visit here in flocks and are a fascinate the visitors. Kumarakom is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. The largest lake in Kerala, Vembanad Lake is a habitat for many marine and freshwater fish species like Karimeen (Pearl spot), shrimp (chemmeen in the local language) and prawns.

Thekkady

Thekkady is one of the best known wild life centers in India. The major attraction in Thekkady is the Periyar National Park and Tiger Reserve. The Periyar national park and tiger reserve is is one of the world’s most fascinating natural wildlife reserves. This is the only sanctuary in India from where you can have the unique experience of viewing wildlife at close quarters from the safety of a boat on the lake. The climate in Thekkady is cool and pleasant in summers. The temperature here ranges from 15 degree Celsius to 30 degree Celsius.

Kochi

Kochi formerly Cochin, is a major port city on the west coast of India by the Arabian Sea and is part of the district of Ernakulam in the state of Kerala. Kochi is often called by the name Ernakulam, which refers to the eastern part of the mainland Kochi. The civic body that governs the city is the Corporation of Cochin, which was constituted in the year 1967, and the statutory bodies that oversee its development are the Greater Cochin Development Authority and the Goshree Islands Development Authority.
